Once 'Meal For One' was completed, the lengthy process of editing began, using Adobe Premiere software. As the editing was performed on a digital platform, a rough cut of the footage was assembled during the week of the 26th of February 2001. From this, all involved were able to get a better picture of what direction the project should have been heading in, and any possible changes in the narrative that needed to be made. One of the most important aspects of the film, the voice over, had already been recorded during filming. This technique is often employed in films to bridge together scenes, handle a complicated narrative, or most obviously - let the audience know what the character is thinking. An early version of the voice over was recorded on the 17" February, but was expected to be re-recorded once a final cut was in place. It turned out that the early version was of high enough quality to be used in the finished film. The music for the film was composed over six weeks by Mark Frost, using the Music 2000 (c) program. Two tracks were completed, but only the 'main theme' appeared. The rest of the soundtrack was created by Vicky West, using a digeridoo - an instrument that was planned to be on the soundtrack since the film was first conceived. Once the finished film was completed, it was initially transferred to video. This was so that it could be sent out to various companies and competitions, including Channel 4's Shooting Gallery'. A transfer to Video CD and DVD soon followed, both for reasons of long term picture quality. A trailer for the film was successfully uploaded to the Internet - In the near future it is hoped that the full film will be placed on various short film sites for maximum exploitation.
